GOAL: To understand mechanisms of agronomically important genes and manipulate these genes for crop improvement using genomics and bionformatics tools.
OUR STRENGTH
Dr. Kulvinder Gill
O.A. Vogel Chair

Dr.Kulvinder Gill holds the O.A. Vogel Chair in Wheat Breeding and Genetics at Washington State University.
The research goal of Gilll and his collaborators is to understand the wheat genome and manipulate it for crop improvement using modern techniques and tools. Current research projects are to:
- To identify and characterize an alternative to currently used dwarfing genes of wheat;
- study molecular basis of chromosome pairing control in polyploid
species; - establish an efficient approach to access agronomically important genes;
- study mechanism of wheat defense response to biotic stress;
- understand the extent and distribution of recombination.
